Description

NEW made 2-gallon water cans. These replicas were made in India to our specifications. Why?  Because 2-gallon cans in the United States are rarer than hen’s teeth and 2-gallon water cans in the United States are rarer then hen’s teeth necklaces around the necks of Unicorns. Two of the owners of Mifflinburg also do British early war reenacting and needed some water containers. This was a passion project for ourselves. We hope you like them and want them for yourselves as well.

They are NOT LINED and are NOT suitable for potable water.

We are working with a potable water tank lining supplier to offer lined cans suitable for potable use in the near future. These are not it. These are UNLINED, they may weep from the seams if filled*. We recommend them for display only, lining with epoxy such as motorcycle/gas tank repair or accepting that they may weep out some water. (Gas tank linings are not suitable for potable use and nor is the rust/oil/swarf/slag etc that may come out of these cans as they are)

Here they are photographed next to a 1918 dated MoD can and a 1950’s Shell commercial one.

The manufacturer got most of the details right, purists will notice differences right away. But most people I think will be satisfied with the appearance. Dimensions are just under 6 1/8″ x 9 5/8″ x 11 3/8″, so check your vehicle carrier before purchase.

Shipping is $15 each flat rate. If you need more than one can please email us for a quote as we may be able to combine shipping. Sorry no international sales on these. The shipping is just too high.

*So far 50/50 I tried one and it weeped out about a teaspoon of water overnight from one lower corner. I tried another and not a drop out of the seams.
